Many of Arkansas's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Arkansas's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Pulaski county animal services for assistance. Little Rock Wildlife Removal Tip: All about the Opossum Tail and What It Is Used for
Most people refer to the opossum as the American kangaroo. This is because it is a marsupial animal and the only one of its kind living in North America. The animal carries young ones in a pouch just like the kangaroo does. After mating, the female gives birth within only 13 days and its whole litter can amount to a dozen opossums. The opossums are small and aren't bigger than a bee. The young ones are tiny, naked and blind at birth and have to crawl into the mothers pouch by themselves. While here, all of them latch to the teats so as to feed. They remain in the pouch for up to three months.

A Four Legged Bus
After leaving the pouch, the young ones are in no position to deal with the world by them. For around 15 days, they still cling on to the fur of their mother, but eventually they can't hold on anymore as they are too heavy for the trips and they fall off. At this time, the opossum is ready to start foraging by himself.

The Neighborhood Swingers
One other thing that makes opossums very notable animals is the fact that they are able to hang on to tree branches by using their toes. The opossums just hang and swing in the trees in a gracefully. The opossum has got a very prehensile tail that assists while tree climbing. However, for the adults, their weight doesn't allow them to support themselves by the tail only. The younger opossums can be seen hanging by the tail, but only for a few moments and this is one practice that is very common with the opossum.

Living High
Many people think that the opossums live in the trees. Sometimes, the opossums adopt this high life to a point of recycling the nests that are left by squirrels. However, in many cases the opossums will prefer to live in underground dens. Opossums don't dig burrows. They opt for the readymade kind of accommodations. The only thing that the opossums will bring along is some form of bedding, usually made of grass and leaves. This material is held firmly by using their tail loop.

Human-like Characteristics
There is an opossum characteristic that make the opossum human-like. They have opposable thumbs that are situated on the hind feet. The hind feet look like the hands of a human and they are really helpful when climbing. This, topped with the prehensile tail, makes the opossum a great climber. There haven't been many cases of people handling opossums as pets but in the few cases, the people who have tried have ended up a disappointed lot. This is because the opossum isn't suited to this lifestyle. However, rehabilitators have been known to work with young opossums and on reaching adulthood, they are released to the wild.

Little Rock Animal News Clip: Trappers can look forward to successful raccoon trapping

The nuisance wildlife control raccoon animal capture opens at first light on September 19. Early predictions are the animal capture will be good, which simply means a few more raccoon will be tagged this year by the expected 17,000 cage trap wild animal control companies. The reasons, declared the small game coordinator The critter professional, raccoon coordinator for the Arkansas Division of Wildlife Resources, are related to weather and amounts. Read on for more information about animal control in Little Rock, Arkansas. "Across most of Arkansas, the amount of raccoon is continuing to climb at a slow but steady pace," he declared. "This year, wild animal control companies are likely to see an increase in the amount of yearling male raccoons. Overall, we had good survival this past winter. The state has received good precipitation over the past two years. More moisture on the earth translates into more raccoon on the earth. The female raccoons are also in better shape and that allows them to care for their raccoons better, which helps more raccoons make it through the winter." This doesn't mean the raccoons are causing trouble, just that they need to be contained.

Based on surveys conducted after last fall's animal removal trap animal capture, biologists estimate 297,000 raccoon were in Arkansas at the start of last winter. That's 7,000 more animals than the 299,000 raccoon estimated in the state after the 2004 fall animal capture. Despite this there is no free Little Rock animal services for wildlife in Pulaski County. The critter professional noted that most of the state's wildlife trapping units have ratios of 17 male raccoons per 100 female raccoons, "which is the highest average we've seen since 2000." The statewide management plan calls for 16 male raccoons per 100 female raccoons. While most people think the raccoon exact number of rodents is stable, some say it needs reduction.

And, as noted, raccoon survival this past winter was high - 70 raccoons per 100 female raccoons - which will translate into a higher amount of yearlings or small one- and two-pound male raccoons. Just how successful wild animal control companies are will, of course, depend on a amount of things, most notably weather conditions. Currently, The critter professional declared raccoon are holding in the mid- to high-elevation areas. If it remains hot and dry, stalking raccoon will be difficult. The hot, dry weather could, of course, help to concentrate raccoon around watering holes. If it rains, stalking will be easier, but the raccoon will remain scattered, and getting into the higher-elevation areas will be difficult. Local animal control trappers we surveyed felt that this was true. Most Little Rock pest control companies that we interviewed found this interesting.

Two things that will greatly increase success are pre-trapping scouting and time spent on a practice range. Scouting an area, especially if it's a new animal capture camp, is a big benefit. Among other things, it can help the long-lining fur trapper find the different trails raccoon travel. And, even though new compound bows have made nuisance wildlife control easier, it takes a certain amount of ability or pure luck to hit a target, even at close range. This fact was verified by local pest control and wildlife agencies.

There are still a couple thousand nuisance wildlife control documentation that allows animal exterminations available. "Last year, nuisance wildlife control documentation that allows animal exterminations sold out the day before the animal capture started," declared Judi The pest animal controller, wildlife licensing coordinator for the DWR. "They're selling at an even faster pace this year, so I'd encourage wild animal control companies to buy their documentation that allows animal extermination as soon as possible." Success during this year's nuisance wildlife control animal capture in the northern critter areas should be similar to last year, with the exception of central Little Rock. This new proposal is meant to help raccoons in the long run. At least, this is what Little Rock extermination companies think.
