Many of Arizona's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Arizona's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Maricopa county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Paradise Valley animal control for wildlife issues.

About Chipmunk: Appearance, biology, life cycle, habitat, diet, behavior

Chipmunks are small in size and hence they do find it difficult to live in the wild. They are not a lot bigger than a typical mouse and being so small, they become the target of predators. There are more than twenty-five different chipmunk species out there and but for one species, the rest have a presence in the North American countries.

The sole exception makes its home in Asian countries. Because there are so many different species in North America, they vary by size and shape as well as color. Here is a brief look at their appearance, biology, life cycle and habitat as well as diet and behavior.

Appearance

Chipmunks belong to the squirrel family and are among the smallest in this category. The largest chipmunk species can grow to a length of eleven inches and weighs a little under 5 oz. The smallest chipmunk on the other hand is about eight inches in length and weighs only a few ounces. The tail of the chipmunk is a major part of its body, and is between three and five inches long.

Biology

Chipmunks spell bad news for farmers and people who own agricultural land. They dig and create burrows that can be as many as 3 feet wide and 30 feet in length. Chipmunks are known to make intricate burrows that have different sections serving different purposes. They even have a nursery section and another to store their food. It is not easy to find the entrance to the burrow as these are usually hidden from sight. Chipmunks may own territory that spreads to a distance of about half an acre.

Diet

Chipmunks eat anything and everything. They are scavengers that are omnivorous. Their meal typically consists of insects and fungi as well as fruits and berries and seeds and even nuts. They are also known to eat the meat from your pet's meal bowl.

Behavior

Chipmunks exist on a diet of fruits and seeds. They love hazelnuts which they obtain by climbing up trees. Chipmunks also store their food during the autumn months and mostly they will store seeds because these do not decompose easily or quickly.

Habitat

Chipmunks normally live in forests as well as woodlands. They have a particular affinity for wood and will use it to store their food and to find shelter as well as to protect themselves against the weather. Their habitat is closely associated with wood though they are capable of surviving in the city and in other environments as well.

Life Cycle

The Eastern chipmunk is very protective about its territory but is a solitary creature. It only socializes when it has to mate and females are capable of producing one or even two litters which consist of 3 to 5 offspring. They breed in the months between February and April and again from June to August. In winter, they enter a state of deep torpor but without hibernating. They tend to live for between 3 and 5 years in the wild, but in captivity they can live for up to 8 years.
