Many of Arizona's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Arizona's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Maricopa county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Sun City animal control for wildlife issues.

Sun City Wildlife Removal Tip: What do skunks eat?
Skunks will find food where they can and are happy eating what they can find although they would rather prey on small creatures. Skunks are well fit for self-defense with their spray but aren't quite so good with their combat skills for killing their food. Skunks know this and tend to go for prey that won't put up a challenge. When they aren't able to catch prey, they will choose foraging for food. Many of us see skunks as pests with a lingering odor. Skunks actually prey on the creatures that are harmful to us like snakes, and the deadly black widow spider even the annoying rodents like small mice are a meal for the skunk.

About 70% of the skunk's diet consists of insects that are harmful to us. Although most of their diet consists of insects, the animals are happy to devour small animal prey even defenseless nesting birds. Skunks are happy to eat the eggs or the flightless young nesting birds. They have even been known to eat fish, frogs and reptiles. Skunks prefer eating animals, but during winter when there isn't much around they will opt for a more plant-based diet. They will forage for plants like corn, grapes, and berries.

Most are happy to eat food that has already fallen to the ground as it is easier to access which is just food we would throw out. As you can tell from the above skunks are not picky eaters and happy to eat what they can get. They will get into garbage bins to eat the rotting food, compost bins and even bird feeders for their seed. If you have pet skunks be aware, they need taurine in higher doses for their muscle formation and calcium for their bone growth. You can get taurine in powder, capsules and liquid to add to their daily food.

You need to have fresh water available at all times for your skunk but know that they do not drink very often as they get what they need from vegetables and grains so if you find your skunk is drinking a lot of water it is best to see a vet, this is abnormal for skunks. Keep an eye on your skunk if they are searching for food a short time after their normal feeding this can indicate there is something missing from their diet or the proper amount needed isn't being given. If you find your skunk isn't too fussed about eating at meals times, this can indicate overfeeding so cut their meals in half each time. Never let a skunk go without eating if they are on a controlled diet for weight loss be sure you are balancing their requirements to maintain their health and digestion.

When you are wondering what do skunks eat the short answer is pretty much everything.

It can be quite hard if you're trying to get rid of skunks from your garden. If you remove food sources like pet food and bird seed, they will just turn to plant matter. In the garden, they have plenty of options from plants to small insects they happily eat what is available to them, especially if it doesn't take too much effort to catch and kill.
