Many of California's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found
that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably,
these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire
hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving California's
wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

Anaheim Wildlife Removal Tip: Will Repellents Get A Bat Out Of The Attic?
The idea of using animal repellents is one that has been tried down the centuries, but despite the repeated failures of people to find an effective animal repellent, many people continue to try to use repellents to get rid of pest animals. The way that these repellents work is that they try to make a particular area unpleasant for the bat to remain there, but in most cases the features that have attracted the bats will be far greater than the annoyance that the repellents will provide.
Different Types Of Bat Repellent
One of the most common types of repellent is the chemical repellent, and these will often work by delivering a strong smell to the area where the bats are present, but there are no real effective repellents of this type. There are also audio devices that are said to drive bats away, and while these may be more of an annoyance that may in some cases affect the bats' echolocation, this still isn't really an effective way to get rid of the bats. There are also a wide range of different home remedies that are said to get rid of bats, but large quantities of mothballs and ammonia will usually be more of an annoyance for the homeowner than for the bats.
Why Repellents Do Not Work
On a basic level, the bats will be in a particular location because it is easy enough to get into, and there will be abundant food sources nearby, and the factors keeping them in that area will usually be greater than the forces driving them away caused by the repellent. Bats are also not that affected by scents, so chemical repellents will often be particularly ineffective when it comes to solving a problem.
Dealing With A Bat Problem
Once you have tried repellents and found them to be ineffective, the next step is to try and find a permanent solution to the bat problem, and this will include permanently excluding the bats from the attic. There are several different ways that this can be achieved, but using exclusion netting or one-way funnels are both effective when they are installed correctly. These will need to be placed over all the entry holes to the attic, and will allow the bats to get out, but will prevent them from getting back in again. Having evicted the bats, you will then have the task of cleaning up all of the droppings and disinfecting the area, as well as permanently repairing those entry holes.
