Many of California's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving California's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Fresno county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. Fresno Wildlife Removal Tip: Cage Traps and Humane Ways to Kill a Skunk -

Introduction
With increasing deforestation and the encroachment of wildlife habitats all around the world, many of these wild animals are finding their ways into urban centers and residential areas. They are proving to be quite a menace to humans. One animal in particular that has been found in residential areas as a result of this is the skunk.

Cage Trap for Skunks
Because of this problem, people have come up with several ways of trapping skunks in and around their homes. A cage trap is one such method. It usually involves setting up a cage at some convenient location in the house or compound. Bait for the skunk is placed inside the cage. Once the skunk gets into the cage, it will somehow mechanically trigger the cage door to shut. A normal or typical cage trap comes with either of two kinds of cage trap door mechanisms. That is, either a spring loaded door or a gravity-door trap. Skunks are nocturnal animals; therefore, the cage trap is supposed to be left open at night but closed during the day. It has proved to be quite effective in reducing the number of skunks in residential areas.

Humane Ways of Killing a Skunk
There is a lot of debate on this topic. Many people argue that it is not possible to be "humane" when killing a skunk, or any animal for that matter. Some have even held that the phrase "humane killing" is an oxymoron.

While the degree of humanity in killing a skunk can be argued, there is no doubt that there are certain methods people can use to kill skunks without having to cause them a slow, painful and miserable death. Discussed below are some of these humane methods.

A quick shot to its head with a 22 caliber gun is one way to do it. This should be done while standing at a reasonable distance from the trapped skunk. You don't want to stand very close to it because it may spray you. But then again, you don't want to stand too far away and be unable to make a clean shot. For gun owners and people who have been properly trained to handle weapons, this should not be a big problem.

Some people have a problem with seeing blood splatter all over. So perhaps using a tranquilizer gun or dart can help. It is still humane but instead of using bullets, you use a dart overdosed with tranquilizer. Again, this is something that can be effectively accomplished by someone trained in handling weapons. A clean shot to the skunk's body will put it to permanent sleep.

If a person has no weapons to use on the skunk, they can acquire a syringe stick. The syringe is then loaded with a tranquilizer overdose and used on the skunk, putting it to permanent sleep.

Fresno Animal News Clip: A Fresno Native's Story:

Rodent Wrangler Ron died on July 24. He meant a lot to me although he probably didn't realize it. A neighbor who lived at the other end of Blake Hill Road, Rodent Wrangler Ron allowed me to animal capture on the 600 hectares of land he owned with his wife Kimberley. Through the years I got to know their nuisance wildlife land well. In the field next to their home, I trapped my first 200-pound male raccoon. It was a memorable morning, probably my best raccoon wildlife trapping day ever. Seated on high earth on a stone wall, I saw eight raccoon run across a lower field and cross Blake Hill Road as the first rays of sunshine touched the pines behind me. Read on for more information about animal control in Fresno, California.

About 7 a.m., I relocated near the road where Dad was to pick me up for a wild animal control companies' breakfast. Out of the woods behind Rodent Wrangler Ron's house skipped a doe, and when I put my scope on her, a huge rack of Skins appeared just behind her. The biggest male raccoon I'd ever seen was right on her tail. I actually had to move to get the proper angle to capture the male raccoon, which I did, careful to avoid catching directly at Rodent Wrangler Ron's house. Despite this there is no free Fresno animal services for wildlife in Fresno County.

Four years ago, I trapped my first raccoon in Rodent Wrangler Ron's high field. Harry Vanderweide and I set up in Rodent Wrangler Ron's woods early that morning, watching six raccoon and four raccoons in the field. Eventually Harry called in a 19-pound Tom, and I trapped him at about 10 yards. It was incredibly exciting. Without a doubt it was my best day of raccoon wildlife trapping. Over the years, I think Dad and I probably took eight to 10 raccoon off Rodent Wrangler Ron's land, and enjoyed many fine days of wildlife trapping there. His generosity in sharing his land allowed me to build a bank of wonderful memories. Most Fresno pest control companies that we interviewed found this interesting.

It was doubly generous of Rodent Wrangler Ron to allow this, because he was an avid wildlife management company too. Wildlife trapping season found him at his camp on Hopkins Stream that flows past my house. The camp was once a cranberry operation when the stream sported a commercial cranberry business. It's the only camp on the stream and I know Rodent Wrangler Ron loved it. Occasionally I'd stop in during the wildlife trapping season to visit, as I canoed downstream to some of my favorite wildlife trapping spots. Rodent Wrangler Ron's father, Winnie, was one of my favorite people. I first met Winnie on a ridge in the woods above Rodent Wrangler Ron's field, where he regaled me for about two hours with wildlife trapping tales. I was fascinated by the stories of Winnie's fox catches across the hills and through the valleys of northern California. But his best stories involved raccoon wildlife trapping in Washington County. He and his wildlife trapping buddies would ride the train, get out in the middle of the wild lands that predominated in the county at that time, set up a tent camp, and animal capture until they had taken their limit of raccoon. At least, this is what Fresno extermination companies think.
