Many of California's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving California's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local San Diego county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Jamul animal control for wildlife issues.

Jamul Wildlife Removal Tip:

Is poisoning a raccoon a good idea?

Though advertisements from poison companies would try to convince you otherwise, you should know that except for certain special cases (like a giant infestation of rats for example), it's never a good idea to use poison against any animal to remove it from your property, raccoon or otherwise. Here's why.

Why poisoning is cruel to the animal

The feeling of being poisoned? How best to describe it? Imagine your insides on fire as the chemical begins to break down the walls of your blood vessels causing internal bleeding. Or your heart and kidneys are slowly ceasing to function. And I mean SLOWLY.

Poison won't kill the raccoon instantly and depending on the dose it's given it could have to endure this pain for a few hours to even a couple of days. There's a reason "humane" is just one letter away from "human"; putting a creature, pest or otherwise, through so much agony is an act only a savage would knowingly commit.

How it's only going to create more trouble for you

One of the things people often forget to consider is what they're going to do after they've poisoned the raccoon. The first step would be finding the body, a process that could take weeks if the raccoon decided to crawl up in some hard-to-reach corner of the house, by which time it'd be a rotting mess of flesh and bones.

Then comes disposing of the body. You can't just throw it in your trash; you have to get rid of it responsibly. Oh, and did I mention how introducing poison in your home environment puts you, your children and your pets in danger?

Given the above arguments, it should be fairly understandable why poisoning is not the route you should take. However, your raccoon problem isn't going to resolve itself. What else can you do?

If you're dead set on killing it

If you're out for blood and no force on earth can convince you to spare the life of the raccoon that wronged you, then you're better off using a lethal spring trap or even just shooting it.

Granted both these methods require a certain level of skill (the former requiring you to know how and where to set the trap and the latter requiring a good steady aim), these methods are still far more humane than poisoning the raccoon as they kill it instantly. Though you still have to deal with the carcass later, no chance of getting out of that.

Just trap it and relocate it

The most convenient way of dealing with your raccoon problem. Period. Just place a live cage trap with some bait in it wherever you think the raccoon is likely to pass by and come back in a few hours to pick up the cage with a secured raccoon, ready for transport. It is that simple.
