Many of California's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving California's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Marin county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Mill Valley animal control for wildlife issues.

Mill Valley Wildlife Removal Tip: What do squirrels eat
Most of us are quite familiar with squirrels, as these animals are found just about any place in North America. These animals are frequently seen running across telephone wires or tree branches, moving from one location to another.

Most are also quite familiar with the fact that squirrels are animals that store their food in several different occasions for the upcoming winter. While they do not hibernate, they do stay out of the cold for much of the winter, using the food that they have stored to sustain them during the long winter's season. Because of this trait, you may have wondered what it is that squirrels eat.

During the winter period, they need to eat things that can still be edible to eat months after they were stored. It is for this reason that most commonly see squirrels storing such things as nuts and grains during the summer and fall time. Squirrels can also store such things as seed and bulbs, because they will last for months, allowing the squirrel to be able to store them to eat later on.

However, these are not the only things that squirrels eat. In fact, the diet of these rodents is a lot more diverse than you may have thought, because cartoons and television shows frequently show these critters eating nothing more than nuts.

The squirrel will actually eat many different kinds of fruits and vegetables. If you have a garden, it is not surprising to see one of these animals going through you carrots, lettuce, or strawberries to get food. In fact, squirrels have a bit of a sweet tooth, so they will eat strawberries, blackberries, apples, and pears on a regular basis if hey are available to them.

Fruits and vegetables are not the only thing that squirrels will eat. They will also enjoy such things as the bark on a tree, fungus, and roots as well. In fact, during the summer and fall seasons it is quite common that squirrels will eat such things as roots and bark because of the potential for food that they can find.

Squirrels do not often eat meat, but there are times where some species of this rodent are known to eat such things as mice and insects. This is generally the food source that they will turn to when there are no other sources available to them or if the amount of food available is limited. It is also common that squirrels will eat insects if they are feeling ill and are in need of protein. It is not that the squirrel knows that it needs protein, but knows that it needs nutrition to improve its overall health.

You should also be aware that if a squirrel can get into your garbage, they will frequently take items from there as well. While not a true omnivore, squirrels will eat on assortment of food.

Once the squirrel heads into its den for the wintertime, then it will turn to the items that it has stored throughout the summer and fall. This is when their diet becomes a lot more restricted based upon the items that they had stored in the den.
