  • Scratching Noises in Your Attic?
  • Unwanted Wildlife on Property?
  • Problem Bird or Bat Infestation?
  • Digging Lawn or Under House?
  • We Can Solve It!
Many of California's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving California's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Santa Cruz county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Watsonville animal control for wildlife issues.

Watsonville Wildlife Removal Tip: Will Repellents Get A Squirrel Out Of The Chimney?

About Squirrels and Repellents

Squirrels are a common sight in your backyard. They belong to the rodent family and could be a nuisance to home owners. They live on trees and survive on nuts, fruits, seeds and fungus. They stack their food in the holes in ground or trees. They seem to have become accustomed to humans and do not find it a problem to be live and roam freely among us. Although they do not intend to harm us their lurid and continuous chattering can be real nuisance to your ears especially when there's more than one squirrel around.

With time people have found out different ways to keep these rodents off and one of them is using repellents. These repellent's can seem tempting to scare away the squirrels but the question is “Do they really work?” There are numerous products in the market that boast of their ability to scare the squirrels but none of them have been found to actually work.

Liquid and Powder Based Repellents

Humans have been trying to use repellent's to have a rodent free surrounding and they have been demonstrated to be ineffective every time. You can throw mothballs or spray repellents or these rodents don't care. Repellents are made to be sprayed on plants or around your house. You can buy them in the form of powder, liquid or capsules as per your expediency. If you have a big backyard spraying these repellent's frequently might burn a hole in your pocket. They can be harmful to your pets, crops and other animals you do not wish to harm. These repellents do not offer a permanent solution in scaring away the squirrels.

Do repellents help in driving a squirrel away?

Climbing and jumping is a natural instinct found in squirrels and you will often find them climbing down your chimneys. If you have a squirrel trapped in the chimney try using other ways to drive it out as the repellents don't seem to work on them. The scent of the repellents does not last long and you will have to reapply it frequently, however all this is in vain as they don't work. They seem to be unaffected by these repellents.

Instead of spending money on these repellents try keeping your house safe by securing the chimneys with commercially made chimney caps. Branches of tress that are near to your chimneys and the roof should be chopped or removed. Repellents are not an answer to driving them out of your chimney and will not help you in any way to scare away these small furry creatures. If they are inside your chimney trick them out with some good quality traps.
