Many of Connecticut's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Connecticut's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Hartford county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Bristol animal control for wildlife issues.

Bristol Wildlife Removal Tip: What size hole can a skunk fit through
A skunk is clearly not the kind of animal you want getting into your home or even around your property. These are the most horrific animals in terms of the oil that they can spray from their anal glands, and this is the primary reason to keep them away, far away from your home.

Consider that it would not take much for you to startle one of these animals. You had out in the evening to throw your garbage away, approach your garbage cans only to find a skunk looking for a late night snack. It is startled to see you, turns, and fires away. Now your family will be avoiding you for weeks.

You may believe that you've taken all of the precautions to keep these animals away. You put up a fence, you've looked around your home, and eliminated sources of food. You've done what is necessary to try to deter this animal away.

However, what you need to consider is that it does not take a large amount of space for a skunk to be able to find its way into your yard or even into your home. You need to know what size hole a skunk can fit through.

If you have never seen a skunk before, they are very much similar in size to that of a cat. In fact, this is a fair comparison. This should give you an indicator of the kinds of places that your average skunk can get into. Think about what your cat gets into, then think about where a skunk can be found.

If you have noticed that there may be a gap in your fence or even a whole in the siding of your house or in the fence, know that all it takes is a hole about the size of a baseball for a skunk to easily slip through and get inside your house. Any hole that is between 1.5 inches and 3 inches is easily large enough for a skunk to fit through.

This is the kind of measuring stick that you should use when looking around the outside of your home for areas where a skunk may get through. A lot of people put up fences that have gaps between each of the boards. It looks quite stylish, but it may not be the deterrent you need to keep a skunk out. This is why you need to check to see if there is enough room for a skunk to squeeze its way through.

If you notice that there is a gap of at least 1.5 inches between them boards in your fence or even that a crack has occurred in the siding of your home that is this large, then you should know that you have created a possibility where a skunk could get through. You need to repair these kinds of gaps immediately, or you may find yourself banished from your home for weeks to come. Play it smart.
