Many of Connecticut's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Connecticut's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Hartford county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Marlborough animal control for wildlife issues.

Marlborough Wildlife Removal Tip: Skunk poop vs raccoon poop
No matter where you live, there are going to be instances where wild animals are coming around your home. Most of us are used to squirrels, mice, and rats, but there are some animals that we could certainly do without. This includes such things as possums, raccoons, and skunks.

Skunks and raccoons are two of the most common. This is especially true if you live in a rural or even suburban setting where these animals are frequently found. However, while you may not want to raccoon around, you could live with it coming onto your property. A skunk is an entirely different story.

You may have suddenly noticed that there is animal feces on your property and you are beginning to wonder if you may have one of these two animals on your land. So how do you tell whether the poop you are looking at is from a skunk or a raccoon?

Without you actually seeing the animal itself, there is a way to tell by looking at the poop. This will allow you to have a clear idea of what kind of animal you are dealing with.

The poop of a skunk is extremely similar to that you would see from a cat. That is in terms of its size and shape. The waste is cylindrical in shape, and has blunt ends on each side. It measures about a half inch in diameter and can be up to 2 inches long, but is usually somewhere about an inch long.

One thing that you will find in most skunk droppings is that there will be some form of undigested food located in the droppings. This can be such things as parts of insects, the seeds from berries, or even the fur or feathers of animals that they have eaten. This is one of the most common characteristics that make skunks droppings stand out.

The raccoon has a very similar look to that of skunk droppings. It is also cylindrical in shape, with blunt ends. Raccoon poop is on average a lot bigger though, being up to 3 inches long and usually being somewhere around 2 inches in length. It is about half of an inch in diameter. The poop also has a relatively dark color to it.

One of the things that separates raccoons from skunks is the fact that raccoons will share a specific area that a group of them will use as a site to go to the bathroom. Outside, this is usually around areas like a tree stump, large rocks, or even wood piles. Near home, they are commonly found new decks, attics, grudges, or along a patio area.

This is one of the most common ways that you are able to tell a skunk from a raccoon in terms of his droppings. The skunk will go just about any place, while raccoons try to choose a select location as a kind of latrine. If you see droppings in several locations then you are likely looking at a skunk on your land.
