Many of Canada's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found
that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably,
these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire
hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Canada's
wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.
We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:
We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Ontario county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Burlington animal control for wildlife issues.

Biology of Black Rat
Black rats are part of the rodent family. They are also known as house rats, roof rats or ship rats. They are technically known as "Rattus Rattus". They are medium sized, and when matured their body can grow to around 7 inches long and their tails can grow upto 6 inches.
When you look at the name, black rat, you might assume that all of them come in the black version - which is not true. They actually come in a wide variety of colours ranging from black to brown, sometimes white and rarely in light green. They are thought to have originally come from Asia, and migrated to Europe during the time of the Roman Empire, when trading of spices originally started. They have since migrated to all parts of the globe except Antarctica, which is too cold for them to survive.
A mature adult black rat can weigh around 300 to 350 grams. It has a coat of soft fur covering its body, which carries the colour of the rat, and this depends on the breeding and the family line.
Black rats are omnivorous creatures and as such, they eat meats and a large variety of greenery as well. Being scavengers, they can easily survive on discarded garbage thrown by humans, and will easily live in sewers. Every day, they ingest around 15 grams of solid food and also consume 15 millilitres of liquids, which is much more than an average animal of similar size and weight.
They are very adept at breeding fast. They are polygamous animals and as such, they mate with two females on average. Each female can birth around 7 to 12 small rats per litter and can produce around 6 litters in a calendar year - the gestation period for each litter is 23 days on average. During times where they get more food, they breed much more actively, resulting in population explosions.
Black rats live for around 12 months, and have very short life spans. It is very rare to find a black rat that has survived in the wild for more than a year. Their life is mostly cut short by larger predators like snakes, owls, coyotes, hawks and other larger beasts.
They have evolved to be almost indestructible and are capable of many things that a comparable animal cannot do. They have powerful jaw muscles which support their incisors, which help them chew through almost any material in sight. Their incisors keep on growing, at a slant angle of 86 degrees, and so they need to be filed constantly. If they are left to grow unchecked, it could result in the death of the rat, because it would be unable to close its mouth or eat. Because of this, the black rat constantly has to chew on solid materials to keep this growth in check. Their incisors are more harder than the hardness values of iron, lead, plastic, wood, concrete and other similar materials, and so they can chew through these materials, given enough time to do so.
