  • Scratching Noises in Your Attic?
  • Unwanted Wildlife on Property?
  • Problem Bird or Bat Infestation?
  • Digging Lawn or Under House?
  • We Can Solve It!
Many of Florida's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Florida's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Citrus county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Homosassa Springs animal control for wildlife issues.

Homosassa Springs Wildlife Removal Tip: How to Keep Raccoons Out from Under a Shed or Porch

Itís almost Always the Mom Raccoon with her Babies

A raccoon that lives under your shed or under your porch should always be assumed that it is the mom raccoon raising her baby raccoons. You can most certainly be sure that the mother raccoon lives under your shed with her young if you hear weird noises under your shed or porch from January to September.

What to do if a Raccoon is living under your Deck or Shed?

First of all, you should be patient with a mom raccoon. Your very first option is not to do anything at all regarding raccoons living under your deck or porch.

We say this because raccoons usually live in underground nests for a short period. Raccoon young become independent by the end of summer. That period is when they leave their den and leave their family as well. Raccoon mom also moves her litter between various nest sites during the raccoon nesting season. If you can wait until the baby raccoons grow up, you can only close off all the access points to your shed or porch.

Humane Harassment

The mom raccoon is living under your shed or porch because it is a dark, quiet, and safe place for her and her babies. However, if you make the area where mother raccoon lives with her young not quiet, not dark, and not safe using various artificial light sources, smell, and sound, she will be convinced to leave the area.

All raccoon harassment techniques should be placed near the entrance to the raccoon den because the mother raccoon simply wonít ignore them.

Harassment with Light

If you want to get rid of raccoons under your porch using light, you should place a bright light near the entrance to the raccoon den. Before you do this, make sure the light source is fire-safe.

Since raccoons are nocturnal animals, they will dislike their environment being surrounded by light and they will simply leave it.

Harassment with Sound

Place a radio near the entrance to the den and tune it to a talk show station. The sound of human voices will terrify the raccoons and they will leave your porch or shed.
