Once a pigeon has moved into your home getting them out is very troublesome. The easiest way of ensuring that you don't reach this point is to make sure that they are unable to enter. There are various modifications that you can make to your property to ensure that they are not able to enter.

What modifications can you make?

1. Make the area less attractive. Install spikes and other devices that keep pigeons from perching on any part of your property. If there is nowhere for them to perch, they will fly off and nest somewhere else.
2. Install cages to catch them. Once you have installed the cage and baited it, all you have to do is wait. If you find that a pigeon has been caught in your trap, you can relocate it. It is better to move the pigeon as far away from your property as possible.
3. Make sure there is no water source. By ensuring that there are no leaking pipes or open drains you will eliminate the water source. Pigeons need water in order to survive. If it is not available, they will go and search somewhere else.
4. Check your home for entry holes. It is possible that there are entry points that you are not aware of. It is important to survey the area and close all openings, no matter how small.
5. Bird netting is very useful for areas that you are unable to seal up completely. The pigeons will not be able to land on the netting.
6. Install grates on your chimneys. Pigeons often fly down your chimney by accident. They will then become stuck and will need help getting out. It is also possible that they have nested in your chimney. By installing a grate, you are able to keep them out completely.
7. Cut down branches. Make sure that no branches are close enough to your house that pigeons can use them to gain access.
