Many of Florida's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Florida's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

Ormond Beach Wildlife Removal Tip: How to get coyote from under a shed or porch

As the weather becomes colder and unbearable, the coyote will move in under a shed or [porch. This is because these places are warm and cozy. They might also shelter there for the purpose of giving birth to its young and then leave as soon as they grow up. Most of us may decide to be patient with them and allow them to stay while others get rid of them as soon as possible.

Consequences of letting coyote stay in your yard

Allowing the wild animal to continue inhabiting your yard is a humane thing. However, below are some consequences of doing so:

Fleas and ticks - coyote bring with them fleas and ticks. These insects are a major threat to human as they transmit diseases.
Noise - coyote howl at night especially when alone. The noise is too loud and hard to avoid and it might take you forever to get used to hearing it.
Odor - the accumulation of their droppings and urine will bring about pungent smell that will make your yard unbearable to live in.
Threat to your farm animals - an extra duty of taking care of your farm animals in added to your list. You have to ensure that the coyote do not get anywhere closer to them. This is too uncomfortable.

Removing coyote from under a shed or porch

Considering the above dangers, keeping it under the shed or porch is not wise. Many people consider killing it. This is inhumane and too illegal. Here is a better method to go about it:

Trapping - this is the best method of removing coyote from under there. However, to be successful the following steps should be considered.
o Consider using a life trap - killing the animal is not our objective. Rather, we just want to catch it and relocate far from our yard. Purchase a life trap with a one way in door.
o Dig a hole a few meters from the shed or porch and put the trap - coyote may not jump in overnight. Let it stay there for a while. Wash it first to remove it of any human smell. Place bait anywhere around the trap but not inside.
o Place the bait deep inside the trap - after getting used to easy food harmless food, coyote will easily jump into the trap and get stuck there.
o Relocate it - when you find it in the cage in the morning, pick the cage up and relocate to over 15 miles from your house. You can also submit it to your area wild animal authority.

Conclusion

There is a better method of removing a coyote from under a shed other than killing it.
