Many of Idaho's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Idaho's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Ada county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. Meridian Wildlife Removal Tip: Groundhog Exterminator
A groundhog is part of the squirrel family that likes to live in open pastures, fields. Woodlots and sometimes even around your home.In the early spring, the groundhogs are found to be most active in the warmers times of the day. During the warmer summer days, they tend to hide out in their burrows to escape the heat. Feeding times will either be at dusk or very early in the morning. In the middle of October is when groundhogs tend to start hibernation and will finish their hibernation around February. They burrow underground, and their tunnels are found 2-4 feet underneath the ground and can dig out to about 25 feet.Where the groundhog prefers to nest is right at the end of the burrow, and you may notice fresh dug earth around the opening of his tunnel.

Groundhogs can be found beneath homes or patios under garages and stored wood. They eat broad vegetation, and a pair of groundhogs can chew through your whole garden overnight so it's important if you suspect you have a groundhog get onto thegroundhog exterminator process as soon as possible. There are successful ways to eliminate groundhogs in and around your area:

Fumigation is one way and best if you suspect there is more than one groundhog present.A gas cartridge is recommended which will be lit and placed into the tunnel to fume out the groundhogs.Sparks may be present, so it is best not to use these inside your home or near fire danger items. If the soil is damp, you will have more success than when the soil is hot and dry.Locate all entrances surrounding active burrows, then cut bits of sod that are bigger than the holes and place it close.Always be sure to follow the instructions on the label to avoid harm or incorrect use.

At the main burrow entryway light and place the cartridge as far in the tunnel as you can, avoid throwing it into the burrow.Using something long like a broom handle push the cartridge in further as far as you can without collapsing dirt from the sides of the tunnel that may end up smothering the cartridge.Place the grass chunks over the burrow holes and push it down to create a seal. If you see some smoke escaping find something to cover it with, you need to keep as much smoke in the hole as you can.Do these steps to all holes and burrows you can see and within a few days retreat the burrow again if needed. From September into October is their hibernation time and there is no point fumigating during this time as they wall off their hibernating area.

Next is trapping
You can buy traps from local pet stores and animals control centers. Check with your local council about the laws surrounding groundhogs to be sure you are following the law.Any size cage from racoon size up will be suitable for the groundhog. Place the trap right in the main entrance and place apple slices and lettuce for bait.

Be sure to check with animal control as to where you can take the ground hog once it is caught.
