  • Scratching Noises in Your Attic?
  • Unwanted Wildlife on Property?
  • Problem Bird or Bat Infestation?
  • Digging Lawn or Under House?
  • We Can Solve It!
Many of Illinois's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Illinois's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Cook county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Des Plaines animal control for wildlife issues.

Des Plaines Wildlife Removal Tip: Types of Mole Traps

Trapping moles is fairly easy. There are plenty of traps that you can purchase at shops or online that will do the trick. The problem is, which one do you choose? With a large selection, you might not know which one will work for you best. Depending on what you want to do, some traps might be more than you can handle. Luckily, it is not that difficult to understand more about these traps and to find one that will do the intended job successfully. With some thought and research, you can have the trap ready on your property and you can have a mole caught in no time at all.

The Different Traps

Most mole traps have one goal: kill the mole. There are not many humane, non-kill mole traps on the market. Typically, the traps will work similarly to mouse or rat traps that capture and crush or strangle the animal, but on a larger scale. These traps kill the animal nearly instantaneously so the suffering is minimal, if any. Even with the use and method of removal being nearly the same in every case, the traps themselves do differ somewhat.

Each trap works in its own way. In the end, they may do similar things, but the traps have varied styles of use. The Black Hole trap, as an example, goes underground and is somewhat easy to place. It will catch a mole the moment it enters and kill it. Other traps, however, typically go above ground, right about the tunnels. These do the same thing, but the placement and use change slightly.

For about every trap, the animal will die quickly. Spring loaded and fast working, they will trap and kill the mole with little effort or resistance. Since moles cannot see well, catching them is not that hard. Simply put the trap where you know the mole will go and let it do its job. There is not a lot to it at all.

The only effort you have to put into it is setting it. All spring loaded traps do require some amount of effort to get working. A bit of strength to set it and you are good. Some are easier than others, but none of them are terribly difficult to use. With these being spring loaded, you can reuse them as often as necessary.

Humane Methods

You are not going to have much luck with finding many humane traps. Humane methods usually involve repellants, not traps, for moles.
