Many of Illinois's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Illinois's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Lake county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Lake Forest animal control for wildlife issues.

The innocent and cute looking squirrels can wreak havoc in any yard by stealing away fruits and vegetables, digging up your green shrubs and grass and also uprooting newly planted flower bulbs. Their ability to run and jump around makes it difficult to catch or get hold of them and if they are dancing around in your area then this post is for you! You can find many squirrel repellents in the market but you should always have some home remedies handy! Also just so you know, squirrels can bring health hazards as the risk of salmonella infection increases if humans come in contact with urine or faeces of squirrels. So read on and make a list of all these quick solutions.

Using this method requires certain hard work as you need to survey the area and find entry and exit points of squirrels. But this one is effective and even works if squirrels have created their nest in your area. You can set the trap by creating a trail of baits which can be nutmegs or groundnuts. The baits will help in trapping these squirrels and then you can leave them at a place meant for them which can be public gardens or mini forests around your home. This is most effective solution to get rid of squirrels.

Hairs of dogs or humans

This might sound odd but is true! Squirrels repel dog or human hairs and hence if you keep dog or human hairs in the bird feeder, chimneys, potted plants and other areas which are infested by squirrels then it will keep them at bay. If you have dog at home then it can act as natural remedy or else you can spread their hair around the area. It might be dirty to do so hence you can keep them in an open bag so that they don't get blew away with wind making it difficult for you to clean the area.

Mothballs are made up of naphthalene flakes which help in getting rid of squirrels. You can keep them at places where squirrels visit the most. If squirrels chew the mothballs then it can lead to their death as well. You can put them in a bowl and keep it around but make sure you keep them away from your pets at home as it can be dangerous for them too!

Aspirin & Peanut better

Crush Aspirin tablets and make a fine powder out of them. Add some peanut butter to it and spread this paste around different parts of your garden. Make a lining of this paste around the flower pots and squirrels will stay away! Aspirin can make them little dizzy and hence they will run away. Make sure you don't add too much aspirin also!

These home remedies will certainly help you in getting rid of squirrels as all these will irritate their taste buds! So try these to have a squirrel free yard!
