  • Scratching Noises in Your Attic?
  • Unwanted Wildlife on Property?
  • Problem Bird or Bat Infestation?
  • Digging Lawn or Under House?
  • We Can Solve It!
Many of Illinois's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Illinois's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Lake county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Vernon Hills animal control for wildlife issues.

Vernon Hills Wildlife Removal Tip: Fastest way to get rid of rats!

It is a part and parcel of human existence to be tormented by rats in their house. It is dreadful to wake up in the morning and clean the litter they leave behind and throw out new packets of kitchen food because they decided to inaugurate it. Hence, there are those moments in every household where we are armed with broomsticks and rat poison to bring back sanity in our lives. Honestly, I am not quite up with this idea of killing a creature for trying to lead their lives. Here are a few ideas, other than rat poisons to have a rat-free home!

1. Entry point: Locate the place where the rats access to ransack your home at first. There are two options for you. First, mend this opening and seal it up. If this is not possible, the second option for it becomes to find out things that act as a repealing agent for rats. The rest of the article deals with such things that you can easily use to chase rats off your house.
2. Mothballs: Their odor repeals the rats. You can place some at the specific entry points and other possible areas to shoo them away. Certain points to keep in mind keep them away from human contacts as they are harmful for any living beings and definitely use a pair of gloves while handling them. There are other things that repel a rat from the grandma-advise-tricks that works. Like owl's feather, ammonia, onions etc. It is believed an owl's feather would drive away rats as they are preyed on by these birds and would definitely avoid being eaten up.
3. Trap box: If you are unable to stop these actions, you can take it a step forward. You can make your own trap without hurting the animal. You can lure the being towards the trap by tempting it with food or you might also locate the corner the rat has taken shelter in and place the trap box at that point. Once the mouse is in the box, you can drop off at some other park away from your house. Make sure that you have little dotted holes to keep the creature alive.

Precautions: Once you have successfully won the battle of making your home rat-free, you need to take certain measures to prevent such conditions over and over again.

1. Keep your house and garage clean, especially kitchen and store rooms. Avoid standing water in the bathtubs and garden. Avoid leaving crumbs of foods spilled here and there. Cut all food supplies for these animals in your house.
2. Try and seal all little holes and unwanted openings in your house.
3. Give a special attention to tightly lid all your containers. Never leave food uncovered on the table.
4. Maintain your garden by trimming the shrubs and grasses. Make sure the rats don't find a hiding place.
5. Bring home a guard to keep rats away, I mean a cat or a dog.
