  • Problem Bird or Bat Infestation?

  • We Can Solve It!
Many of Michigan's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Michigan's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Berrien county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free St Joseph animal control for wildlife issues.

St Joseph Wildlife Removal Tip: How To Use A One-Way Funnel To Get Squirrels Out Of A Building

Squirrels look innocent and cute by face. Most people fall in love with their furry body. Kids may even ask parents if they can keep squirrels as a pet at home. But these creatures are actually very noisy, dangerous and destructive. Once they get access to your home, they will start ruining everything within few minutes. Many homeowners are suffering trouble due to squirrel infestation. These creatures make all efforts to gain access to the attic in birthing season and start tearing the expensive insulation to create cozy beds for their babies. With time, they even destroy the duct and the heating/cooling system at home becomes ineffective. Squirrel infestation can cost you a big amount of repairs, so it is good to take immediate steps to get rid of these terrible rodents.

The most frustrating thing to know about squirrels is that they are expert enough to ignore live traps, and they don't even bother about common repellents such as sound, light, and odors. Hence, the only option to catch them is using one-way funnel trap that is also known as exclusion traps. Now you might be interested to know why these traps work when all other methods fail against hyperactive squirrels. The fact is that these traps are designed to serve their habit of being curious about visiting crawlspaces. These traps are set at a place where squirrels have already created a hole to move in and out of certain crawlspace, so they do not get an idea of any danger associated with it. The great news is that these traps are quite easier to set; they don't even require any poison, bait or special tools. One-way funnel traps can be designed using inexpensive materials such as wood screws and quarter inch hardware cloth. Also, they can be installed just within few minutes.

One way funnel traps are installed outside the buildings and their opening point is attached to the hole already made by a squirrel to get access into the building. The narrow end appears big enough for the squirrel to escape the one-way funnel but the endpoint closes down automatically as soon as the squirrel gets inside and there is no space left for re-entry. The squirrel realizes this fact very late that she is trapped inside. The squirrels come out of the nest to get food and they generally exit through the normal exit holes made by them. Hence it gets easily trapped into one way trap that leads to a wire cage. The trapped squirrel can be later relocated to some woodland but before you take her away, never forget to check if the squirrel is alone or it has babies in the nest. It is important to relocate the babies with mother otherwise they may die. Also, never ever touch the squirrels with a hand as they can transfer harmful diseases viruses. Use good quality protective gloves to pick the babies and put them with mother. Carry the cage to some far location where they can get enough sources for survival.
