What you should be aware of is that on average 12 percent of all squirrels have rabies. Some scientists believe that number may be as high as 20 percent. Consider that even on the low end, that means that one out of every eight squirrels are likely to have the disease. That's enough for you to be concerned.

What Happens with Rabies?
