Many of New Mexico's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving New Mexico's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local San Juan county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Farmington animal control for wildlife issues.

Farmington Wildlife Removal Tip:

How to get flying squirrels out of the attic

Flying squirrels can be a more significant pain than most other rodents and pests that invade your home. They tend to create more mess, as well as more damage caused by gnawing and scratching. They also tend to come in numbers and cause smell problems with lots of droppings and urine.

Methods to deal with them.

The best solution to flying squirrel problems is to use the exclusion method. The exclusion method generally involves a door at a visible opening that the flying squirrel is likely to use. This door, however, is no ordinary door. In fact, it only opens at one side, which means that once the squirrel leaves, it can't come back. Thus it will find a new home for itself.

The easiest way known to solve this problem is to ensure that the flying squirrel doesn't come inside your house in the first place. Open entries and attractive signs such as food sources such as insects inside your attic are what attracts the squirrels to get in. If you can deal with this aspect, then you have taken a massive step in avoiding this problem in the future. Even if you do manage to remove the flying squirrel, the entry points will still be available for other animals, which mean that further problems may be on the rise.

Other Methods

In general, the methods to deal with flying squirrels are quite similar to those used to get rid of other pets that may invade. Since they have the capability of jumping through tiny spaces from high tree branches, it is better if you close any vents that are present in your house, especially in the attic. Make sure there aren't any potential food sources such as insects and spiders present in your attic and walls. This can be done by keeping your house clean.

Trapping is commonly suggested as one of the best ways to catch animals. For this, you must ensure that you use the most effective trap available to you. Additionally, the correct form of bait must be used to lure the flying squirrel into the trap. The aim of capturing an animal is not to kill it, but rather to lead it away from your house in order to stop it from causing any more damages. Taking it to another location where it is likely to survive is perhaps one the more common steps in situations like these.

Repellants are also a method often used, but depending on your moral standard, this can be entirely unethical. The reason being that if the smell is too strong and potent for the animal, it can be harmful to its health and can also result in it dying at times.
