Many of Ohio's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Ohio's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Sandusky county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Fremont animal control for wildlife issues.

Fremont Wildlife Removal Tip: Biology of Norway Rat

Norway rats are also known as brown rats, sewer rats, common rats, brown Norway rats, Hanover rats, wharf rats or Norwegian rats. Their scientific name is Rattus Norvegius. The fur on their backside is usually dark grey or brown and light brown/light grey under the belly. They can grow up to 10 inches long and their tail is usually double the body size.

Habitat

Norway rats live better in temperate climates. They prefer to live near human settlements so that they can leech off their food. They usually construct underground nests made of fibrous materials wherever water, shelter and food is available. In areas that have extremely harsh winters they survive through overwintering in human habitations.

Food

Brown rats are omnivorous. They can feed on almost anything but prefer foods such as

1. Grains
2. Fruits
3. Nuts
4. Animal flesh

They are opportunistic predators whereby they normally kill only when prey is available. They typically need an ounce of water per day when feeding on dry foods.

Life Cycle

Female Norway rats give birth to 6 to 12 offspring per liter, 4 to 6 litters per year. The gestation period for a pregnant Norway rat is 21 to 23 days. New born rats reach reproductive maturity in 2 or 3 months and may restart the cycle immediately. This shows that rats multiply fast and it is important to control their populations early. Their lifespan can reach a maximum of three years but they typically live for one year.

Behavior

Norway rats play an important role in behavioral studies. This is because they have intricate behavioral patterns that can be used to understand animal nature. Norway rats are considered more intelligent than other rat species hence they are often domesticated. They behave normally and are easy to handle in human presence.
