Many of Ohio's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Ohio's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Champaign county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Urbana animal control for wildlife issues.

Urbana Wildlife Removal Tip: About Gopher: Appearance, biology, life cycle, habitat, diet, behavior

Appearance

These are small, furry, brown-like mammals, with pouches on their fronts, going all the way back to their shoulders. They have four long incisors which never stop growing throughout their lives. They have a stout body, perfect for digging, with tiny ears and eyes, are without a distinct knec, and have short strong feet with large claws. They are commonly mistaken for moles.

Habitat

They are native to both North and Central America. They are common in areas with loose sandy soil since it can easily be tunneled. This is because they use tunnels to connect their burrows and nesting chambers and also, to collect food. They are easily notice by small piles of loose soil being besides small holes into the ground.

Biology

Gophers belong to the Geomydae family, of the Kingdom Animalia. They are basically mammals and are rodents. They gain sexual maturity when 1 year old, and can breed once or twice in a year.

Life cycle

Gophers, according to a few scientific studies, are supposed to live for about twelve years. However, for reasons yet to be known, the average gopher, as observed over time, only lives for an average maximum of three years.

Behavior

They tend to connect their burrows and nesting chambers with tunnels which they dig, and use the tunnels to collect food and also for hoarding, which they are very good at. They like to stay hidden and thus, not very easy to spot.

Diet

They mostly eat earthworms, tops of plants, and roots of plants too. Some eat vegetables too like potatoes, carrots and lettuce.
