Many of Oregon's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Oregon's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Clatsop county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Seaside animal control for wildlife issues.

Seaside Wildlife Removal Tip: How Could You Tell If a Raccoon Is Sick?

The raccoon is the carrier of a number of diseases that pose a serious risk to human beings. These include such things as parasites, viruses, and bacteria. Raccoons are even known to carry such diseases as rabies, which we all know is an extremely dangerous disease should a human being contract it.

How Do I Know?

While it is important to know these kinds of things, it does you very little good if you don't know what to look for in terms of the raccoon being sick. After all, if you came across a raccoon unless you knew exactly what to look for it may be too late for you. A bite or scratch from one of these animals can be deadly. Even coming in contact with their feces or other waste can have dramatic effects.

Fortunately, there are some telltale signs that let you know that the raccoon is likely sick. When you see these kinds of things, it is time to stay away.

Out in the Daytime

This is one of the most important symptoms. Raccoons are nocturnal critters because they cannot see very well. Their poor eyesight makes them an easy target for predators in the daytime, and this is why they are only out in dark hours.

However, a sick or severely injured raccoon will likely have brain impairments that will remove this natural instinct. Therefore, if you see a raccoon out in the daytime, you can most assuredly believe that something is wrong with it. If you see an animal like this, you should contact your local animal control agency immediately to see if they will remove this animal.

Foaming or Discharge in the Mouth

The most common symptom you will see of a diseased raccoon is foaming at the mouth. This is a symptom of a number of diseases a raccoon may have, the most serious of which is rabies. If you see this, stay as far away as possible.

Difficulty Breathing

You are going to find that many of the common symptoms of you having an illness are common in raccoons as well. This include shortness of breath or difficulty breathing in general. If you see such things as it wheezing, choking, or panting excessively, this is likely a symptom of it being sick.

Diarrhea

Diarrhea is a very common symptom, as is vomiting. These kinds of symptoms are usually an indication of some type of problem with the digestive system. Although there are a number of maladies that may cause that, if you come across raccoon feces or vomit, time to get away as quickly as possible.

There are some other symptoms to pay attention to. These include foaming or discharge around the eyes. This could be a symptom of raccoon distemper. Erratic behavior is always something that should tell you something is wrong with the animal. If you see it acting in a manner where it appears like it is drunk, it probably has some type of brain illness. Keep away from raccoons if they look sick like this. It may save your life.
