Beaufort Wildlife Removal Tip: How to keep snakes out of your basement: There are a number of tricks and tips you can use to try and keep snakes out of your basement. They are lulled down because it is cool, damp, dark and safe, all the things the average snake needs to seek shelter from predators while they catch some zzzz's. It's tiring work slithering around like that all the time, don't you know? There are a few simple steps you should begin with - put rat and mouse traps down if there is evidence of these. Snakes eat rats and mice, rats and mice like to eat human leftovers - I'm sure you can see the chain here. Get rid of the rodents and the snakes will take care of themselves ... ish. A snake fence can help around the perimeter of your basement - wiring can be used as well as wood, plastic, vinyl, etc. You could also look at using snake traps although I would highly advise against the ones with glue strips. In my experience, these catch more mice and other small critters than snakes. That's not a bad thing but it doesn't get the job done. There are humane snake traps you can buy, ones that won't hurt the snake, but you need to make sure you check it regularly, and once you have caught something, release it back into the wild into a suitable place, keeping yourself safe, as soon as you can. The sooner you release it, the more of a chance it will survive and find shelter, food, water, etc. in it's new location. There are very few repellents that I would say actually work so for the most part, keeping a snake out of the basement is very much a case of property modification - taking away the food that's attracting it and making sure the snake can't gain access to your home in the first place.

South Carolina NWR was third with 99 male skunks with 7& 9-pounds. Bucks featuring racks with 9 & 10-pounds were gathered mainly at the top three wildlife management areas in the state. South Carolina NWR and Beaufort fought it out in this category as well and ended in what is possibly a tie with both areas tagging 44 male skunks with 9 & 10-pound racks.
