Many of Virginia's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Virginia's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocaton services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Washington county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Bristol animal control for wildlife issues.

Bristol Wildlife Removal Tip:

How to get foxes out from under a shed or porch

There are essentially two ways to get a fox out from under a shed or porch. The first option is to trap it and then relocate it at a safe distance from your house. The second option involves building an exclusion barrier and installing a steel screen around the perimeter of your home. This will help ensures that foxes won't be able to sneak in to your property. Of course, there is no harm in trying both the above-mentioned solutions simultaneously.

In case a fox has managed to make its home under your porch or shed, then if you don't want to leave it there, you will need to find a way to remove it. If you are worried that the fox may bite someone, then it makes sense to remove it immediately.

Use a trap

The best way to get foxes out from under a shed or porch is by trapping it. However, before you opt to trap a fox, make sure that using a trap is legal in your area. To bait the trap, you should use some wet cat food or you can even try fish. Before trying to trap the fox, make sure you don't have a female fox with babies on your property. Poisoning or using lethal traps is not recommended because in many parts of the US, foxes are a protected species.

Keep in mind that trapping the fox on your own may not be very easy because you need to make sure the trapped fox is released not into the wild in a safe place. It is not legal to relocate the fox on private property without first obtaining permission from the owner of the land.

Use fences

Fencing your property is also a good way of removing foxes from under your shed or porch. Make sure you use chicken wire or you can also. Another option available to you is hardware cloth.

Call in a professional

You can also remove a fox from under your shed or porch by calling for professional help. Professional animal control personnel are trained to remove wild animals and they also know where and how to relocate the fox after it has been captured. The nice thing about asking a professional to remove the fox from your property is they do more than just remove the fox, they also sanitize the area inhabited by the fox and will clear their waste as well as remove all traces of the pungent odor created by foxes.

Professionals know how to trap both the mother fox and her babies and then they will safely relocate them to a safe area far from your home.

Scare the fox away

Another way of getting foxes out from under a shed or porch is by scaring them away. For that, you will need to make use of bright lights or you may have to make loud noises. Some people even resort to using repellents to get the fox out. They make use of smell and even taste aversion therapies or they resort to making high frequency noises that are designed to make the fox leave.
