Many of Virginia's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Virginia's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We handle every aspect of wildlife control. We are fully equipped to work on any project, large or small. Some of our services include:

  • Humane wildlife trapping and relocation services
  • Removal of raccoons or squirrels from the attic
  • Building repairs and prevention work to keep animals out
  • 100% permanent elimination of rats, mice, or even bats
  • Cleanup of animal waste and odor control services
  • Emergency animal issues, and dead animal removal

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Fairfax county animal services for assistance. Chantilly Wildlife Removal Tip: Humane Groundhog Removal
So, you have got a ground hog hiding out under your porch or one in the shed digging its very own tunnels to wherever. You have several ways to get rid of the groundhog that thinks he has moved in. It's important to use humane ways to remove the groundhog.Groundhogs are cute little things but are nothing more than a pest. Once they find their way into an area, they can be a huge problem. Groundhogs burrow and spend the majority of their time under the ground. Once they start burrowing underneath, they will cause so many problems for the structure.Groundhogs tunnel underneath causing structures to give way underneath.

Many people first think of wrecking their burrow and sealing the exits, but neither is a safe way for the groundhog. They are animals that become very over protective for their burrows.Digging them out will only cause them to become aggressive and attack. The groundhog has sharp front teeth that can cause some damage.

Sealing of the exits is no good as the groundhog will just dig out another way. The humane way to check if there is a groundhog underneath your structure is by covering the holes with newspaper or leaves. If there is no movement of the coverings after a few days, it is safe to assume the groundhog has moved on. Once you have found out, there is no groundhog in the tunnels cover the exits with wire to mesh to avoid its return, if it looks like the material has been moved and disturbed, then you need to add a strong smell to the hole like used kitty litter then cover the hole this will trap the smell.

Monitor the holes and once the groundhog has left seal it with something strong. Check your property for other signs of more burrows elsewhere and get them blocked before he returns. You can get a trap and set it up near the burrow and add a bait like melons or lettuce. It will pay to add some bait in a trail leading into the cage. Once you have it in the cage, you need to release it somewhere. Don't release near farms when the groundhog can cause more trouble and start a trail of destruction.A single catch trap is best for a groundhog as the door will close behind it with no means of escape. If you are not sure where to release the groundhog, then get in touch with your local wildlife or city council for advice.

Catching the animal and removing it from your property is the temporary solution but you need to add a permanent fix to your property to avoid there return. Installing a steel barrier under the ground around the whole structure with a curve on the bottom will stop groundhogs as they cannot burrow and dig through the steel and the curve will stop them digging underneath.

Be sure not to leave food outside as this will attract them, and they will happily return to the place they found food.
