  • Scratching Noises in Your Attic?
  • Unwanted Wildlife on Property?
  • Problem Bird or Bat Infestation?
  • Digging Lawn or Under House?
  • We Can Solve It!
Many of Washington's wild animals have learned to adapt and even thrive in our homes. For example some wildlife have found that attics make great places to live. Other animals find refuge under homes or porches. Invariably, these animals cause damage. Rodents, like squirrels and rats, love to chew on electrical wires once in an attic, and this causes a serious fire hazard. Raccoons can cause serious contamination in an attic with their droppings and parasites. Same goes for bat or bird colonies. We specialize in solving Washington's wildlife problems, from snake removal to large jobs like commercial bat control, we do it all.

We do not handle dog or cat problems. If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local King county animal services for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, spay & neuter programs, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, bite reports, deceased pets, lost pets, local animal complaints and to report neglected or abused animals. There is no free Mercer Island animal control for wildlife issues.

Mercer Island Wildlife Removal Tip: WHAT ARE RACCOONS SCARED OF

Raccoons are one of the strongest and intelligent animals and they know how to defend themselves! Hence if you have raccoons at your home/office then it is not very easy to get rid of them! You might love their appearance but if you have them around then you are at high risk of having rabies! Their distinctive and sharp features are certainly worth admiring but their uncanny ability to break through and get into your property is not acceptable. They can thrive in our communities and there are very less things/incidents which they are scared of! Here is a list which you can help you in taking precautionary measures and keep raccoons away from your home.

1. Dogs: Raccoons are scared of huge dogs like German Shepherd and thus you can think of having a pet at home. But raccoons can attack as well; hence you need to keep a trained pet at home.
2. Loud noise: The loud noises created by firecrackers or gun shot or someone shouting might scare them away. These noises make them hide at corners and they are scared to confront anyone. Therefore the bark of dog also makes them scare! If you create lot of noise then they may just run away from your home! High ultrasonic sound machines are of no use as the frequency of hearing of raccoons is same as humans.
3. Bright lights: Some of the raccoons are scared of flood lights or flash lights as they feel exposed and thus run away or never visit the premises with bright lights. But some raccoons are used to the lights and thus it doesn't faze them at all. So you may try installing LED lights which are cost effective and saturate the area also! But in general raccoons prefer to hunt in dark and hence lights do discourage them.
4. Repellents: There are many repellents which are available at hardware stores which can help you in getting rid of raccoons. You should select the one which has ammonia and mothballs or the ones made of male raccoon urine. The latter one helps in wooing away female raccoons.
5. Pepper spray: You can also use hot pepper spray in the area of your home where you have spotted raccoon. Pepper spray actually works as it creates itching in their nose but the only limitation is that they last for three to five days and thus raccoons can return if they have found a comfortable dent at your place!

Raccoons might appear to be cute but only to those who haven't had them close to their property! They can be destructive and shed their faeces around which can be utterly dangerous for the hygiene of your home. Getting rid of raccoons is not an easy job as they are smart and intelligent omnivores which can find food easily in your property. Hence, adopting the above measures might help you in scaring them and keeping them away but you should hire professional wildlife removal service as it is a tricky affair and should not be dealt individually!
