Many vets won't take on exotic animals because they haven't learned the anatomy, how they work, and the drugs that they may use may not work in the way that the would on the targeted population.

Rabies

Vets aside, there are other problems which foxes possess which others, such as dogs and cats aren't as likely to have. Personalities

People who have owned foxes have said that during infancy the foxes were treat companions, and would be like any other normal pet. However once they reach sexual maturity their behaviour changes, and although they still respect their owners, the power dynamic completely changes and the fox won't get close to the human at all.
